ABOUT ME

I like to learn, especially languages; I can speak English and Vietnamese fluently, I am also learning Mandarin and Cantonese. I think mechanical engineering is another language because all of mechanical engineers from all over the world can just communicate through drawings to learn and to help each other as well as help millions of unfortunate people out there. While in school, I have obtained problem solving, 3D modeling, math, programming, colaborate and other skills by joining various projects. I have worked with 3D printing technologies for 2 years at UW. The projects that I worked on are multi-positional thumb 3D printed prosthetics hand, composites contain 3D printed materials, intercranial hammocks, and Apollo 3D printer. I also work as an office assistant at school of Business for a year. Not only I can design, but also I can cooperate with other disciplines such as electrical, computer science, biology,...As I come from a third world country-Vietnam, I think it is very necessary to invent inexpensive things. I'd like to recycle parts in my invention, so I can save the environment as well.

Beside school and work, I enjoy doing outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, or kayaking... I am very lucky to live in the Pacific North West in the past 7 years, because I have gone and seen many magnificent scenaries. I also think people should not be serious all the time, as a few jokes will always lighten up the moment.

b) Prosthetics project: model and 3D printed prosthetics hands.

a) Arduino project: Input distance through keypad, sensor measures distance of an object and compares to input

c) Composite design: Optimize tension, compression, and bending force by combining 3D printed material and resin epoxy to minimize cost and production time.

Prothetics Device

Developing current iteration of modular 3D printed prosthetics hand by adding rotational wrist, multi-positional thumb, and laminated sockets. This device is aim to be sold at $500 a piece, which allow low income households to afford one, and charity gifts for people in third world country. My role in this project is a project manager. I also recreate a Solidworks file for the model of the hand. A complete business plan was also written.

2014-2016

University of Washington

Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering

Therapeutic Device

I worked with a little 5 years old client-Maria who has vestibular disease. Maria always has irritated moments; her therapist said that the hammock motion calm Maria down a lot. We decided to build an automatic hammock.

Prosthetics

Journey is the dog from Korea. Journey was thrown into fire, that caused her to lost the two front paws. The residual "limbs" has no fur, so she has difficulty walking on those. We cooperated with Harbour View Prosthetics Center in Seattle to invent a prosthetics to help Journey back on her feet.
